Reina has already described herself as the Hello! Project member with the most musical diversity. Thanks to her father, she listened songs from everywhere since she was little and when she joined Morning Musume。, she shares a lot of occidental songs with Nonaka Miki - who has lived in America for some times.
But above all, Reina has always learn to play some musical instruments. Since already very young, during primary school, she learned to play piano at home alone. Later during middle school, she was in a guitar extra-school club and she bought her own guitar to learn faster. Unfortunally, her young brother broke it and Reina never fixed it. Despite of this, she tries to play it from time to time and knows most chords and notes. She also have some percussion instruments basics. Without forgetting the saxophone, which Reina has presented as her "special ability" since her major debut. She learned how to play it during middle school in the club school and participated in several competition with her brass band. Her alto saxophone was named "Ku~u-chan" (くぅ〜うちゃん) and she always played with the same one, even today! This saxophone part is really important to Reina, she describes this era as her "first life" - the seconde one being to be part of Morning Musume。- because she learns many values as teamwork unity, daily and ardently training, ... which helped her when she joined Morning Musume。and still helps her about herself and her work. Many members have also insisted on Reina's very professional character, in Morning Musume。but also in her sub-groups.
